The fundamental function of a Service club is to give back to the community. One very tangible way the Rotary Club of Portsmouth gives back is to provide a free dictionary to every third grade student in the public and private schools in Portsmouth.
The club has joined with many other organizations around the country in The Dictionary Project, a nationwide effort to enhance literacy by distributing dictionaries to school children.
